How to add a post in WordPress 2.6
To add a post in WordPress 2.6, login to your admin area and click on “Write” in the top menu.

Type in the title in the title post, this is the title for the article that will appear above the article. Type in the article (or post text) into the post box. The editor is very similar to a regular HTML editor like FrontPage, allowing you to BOLD or italicize text, add bullets, center, etc, text.

Here is a basic overview of the editor options.

- Add an image to your post
- Add a video clip to your post
- Add an audio clip to your post
- Add a file to your post (Word Doc, PDF)

Visual = Editing your content in editor mode (no HTML required)
HTML = Editing your content in HTML mode
You can change between the two while writing.

- Use to BOLD your text
- Use to Italicize your text
- Use to strike through your text
- Use to create bullet list (bullet style is managed through your theme’s stylesheet)
- Use to create a numbered list
- Use to quote text (format is managed through your theme’s stylesheet)
- Align text to the left
- Align text to the center
- Align text to the right
- Add a hyperlink
- Remove a hyperlink
- Use to insert a break in text (creates a “teaser” effect)
- Spellcheck
- Click to enlarge workspace screen
- Click to display MORE editing options (as shown below)
If you click on icon #15 from the list above, you will also have access the following options:

- Use to change/edit your text style (formatting for these can be edited in your theme’s stylesheet)
- Use to underline your text
- Use to align full
- Use to change the color of text
- Use to paste something as plain text
- Use to paste something from Microsoft Word
- Use to remove formatting
- Use to insert/embed files like Flash into your post
- Use to insert characters into your post (example: © or ™)
- Use to outdent
- Use to indent
- Use to undo your last action
- Use to redo your action (if you just “undid” it)
- Use to access Help
After you have the article (post text) entered, scroll down to choose the category to display the article under.

To the right you now have two options. Choose either “Save” to save the post as a draft without publishing it, or choose “Publish” to display the post live.

You can later edit articles (posts) under Manage -> Posts.
