To the left side, you will see “Free Download” near the bottom of the menu:

Click on “Free Download” and you will be taken to their down load page.

Now, click on button labeled “Download” under the Auto-Installer section as shown:

When clicked, a new box will pop up in your window asking you if you would like to open the file autoinstaller.php

Click the box next to “Save File”

Now click on “OK”

You are now ready to move this file to your web host and finish the setup.

To do this, you will need the following:

1. An FTP program (I like FileZilla)
2. Your FTP information as provided by your web host (this is usually yourdomain.com or ftp.yourdomain.com, your username and a password)

Open your FTP program (I will be using FileZilla) and connect to your domain using your FTP information.

To the left side, find the autoinstaller.php file listed under Desktop (or where ever you saved it):

To the top right side, open up your website to the folder you wish to upload the file to. cPanel users, first double-click on the folder public_html and then open the folder you want to upload the files to.

IMPORTANT: This must be a new folder, example: snippetmaster

Once you have the folder open, you will need to move the autoinstaller.php file on your computer to your web host. To do this, just click the autoinstaller.php file and DRAG it to the right side into your folder.

FileZilla will start moving the file over automatically. If you do not see this happening, first check to see if the file to the left is still highlighted. If not, attempt to drag the file over again. If it is NOT highlighted or you cannot get your file to drag over, please contact me for further help.

Once the file has finished uploading, open your internet browser to finish the install. Type in http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/YOURFOLDER/autoinstaller.php

PLEASE make sure you replace YOURDOMAIN with your actual domain name! and also replace YOURFOLDER with the actual name of the folder you uploaded to (example: snippetmaster).

This page should now appear in your browser:

You will need to enter the following details:

1. What type of encoding – choose “Automatic”
2. Username – this your FTP username
3. Password – this is your FTP password
4. Hostname – USUALLY localhost. ask your host if you are unsure.
5. Port – leave this alone unless you know for sure what you are doing
6. PASV mode – leave unchecked

Now click on “Continue”

The following screen should now appear:

Click on the folder “public_html”

You should see your folder listed. Once you find it, click on the folder name.

Your folder should now appear in the box under “Selected Folder”

Click on “Install Now” to start the installation process.

If successful, you will see the following message:

Click on the link “Installation Wizard” in the last line of the message.

The following screen will appear. You will not need to enter anything, just click on “Continue”

The next screen will ask you to enter a username and password, your first and last name, and also your email address. The other settings should not require any other editing.

Click on “Continue”

You should now see the following screen letting you know the install is complete!

You can click on “Continue” to login and start using the script.

After trying out a few (and I mean VERY few, I didn’t find many), I ended up choosing SnippetMaster.

So what is SnippetMaster? From the SnippetMaster.com website:

SnippetMaster is a free easy to use  content editing tool for website owners or designers who want a very simple and visual way to quickly edit pre-defined areas on any web page, through any browser, without messing up the rest of the web page. (SnippetMaster can also edit entire webpages and regular text files, too.)

Basically, SnippetMaster is an HTML editor that you install onto your web host, allowing you to edit your pages online. No HTML knowledge is required. You type and SnippetMaster converts to code. It works just like Microsoft FrontPage or Dreamweaver except that you use it online instead of on your computer.

There are 2 ways to download SnippetMaster – manually or using the auto installer.
