Outsourcing your blog content, should you do it?

Outsourcing.

I typically crinkle my nose when I think of outsourcing my work. I’ve tried in the past and have found that being such a control freak, it’s hard to allow someone else in on my projects.

I have been considering it more lately for website content simply because after homeschooling, running my house, and working for my design clients - I have very little time (sometimes none at all) to work on my own websites. This leads to their neglect, which then leads to loss of rankings, leading to a loss of visitors, ending with a loss in profits for myself. When I do have time, I have to work double-time to make up for lost time. Creating new content, updating outdated promotions, re-promoting the site, etc.

Not exactly the best pattern to follow when trying to build a profitable website or business.

Yes, Firefox is better

Totally unrelated to anything, but so what. :)

A few months ago, while moving into our new house, we were using the only thing unpacked to listen to CD’s - my computer. After removing a disc my husband comes and tells me that the CD he put in isn’t working. I roll my eyes and walk on over expecting that my computer illiterate husband has forgotten something simple like clicking play. I click play, close and open both RealPlayer and Windows Media Player, and nothing works.

Hmmm. Weird.

So I open My Computer and see that my C-Drive is missing. As in vanished, gone. I look at my husband. Speaking is not necessary, he knows my looks. He proceeds to swear he touched nothing except for putting in a new CD.

Long story short, after shutting down and re-starting a dozen times and crying uncontrollably over my lost files, the system somehow recovered most of itself and the C-Drive reappeared. Thank goodness.

Afterwards, however, Internet Explorer would not work at all. I upgraded, reinstalled, etc. to no avail. The browser would open, never load, freeze and I would have to shut everything down. I gave up.

Okay, you’ve finally decided to start your own blog. The blog has been installed, style sheets edited to fit your personality and you have been working tirelessly adding high-quality original content. Mission completed.

Now you just sit back and wait for the money to start rolling in right? Ummm… not quite. Sorry.

It’s a common misconception many new bloggers (and website owners in general) have. Create a nice looking site, add good content to it and magically, the search engines will spider your pages and visitors will appear.

The truth is, gaining traffic and readers can be hard work. Work you must complete if you want your blog to succeed. And since I am assuming you want to profit from your blog - you know, make money from it - you must be successful. So how do you increase traffic to your blog?

There are thousands of articles on the net regarding traffic and tips to bring more of it in, but here are tips I give my own clients (many who are working from home to make extra money) after installing a blog for them.

Improving SEO with your blog title tags

Well it took me 2 months but I *finally* installed and set-up the SEO Title Tag Plugin I mentioned back in July. Good thing I waited so long, it was so difficult to install - NOT! I had it up and running in under 5 minutes. It was super easy, just FTP, activate and edit a few variables. I love it. Incredibly easy to manage.

Do yourself a favor and don’t be a procrastinator like me. Download this and install it now if you haven’t already done so.

Why this will help my blog and yours too (go install it now!):

Adding (or fixing) the title tags of your pages can often generate quick and appreciable differences to your rankings.

Title tags are considered one of the “big three” as far as the algorithmic weight given to them by search engines.

When calculating a sites relevance to a search, most search engines consider the title tag as one of the parameters and display that content in search engine results pages.
